Tickets 0001 - 0020, April 2020

This could be about the attraction of ephemeral printed objects. I’d be happy to find these things in the street or tucked in an old book (er, I didn’t). It is a quick series of drawings: exercises in postponing judgement and keeping an open mind. Finding a flow and somehow going with it. Perhaps also a way to travel when I can’t. The serialisation means that there is always room for more.

ticket 0001. Heavy ornamented border.

ticket 0002. Tip of the hat to Commercial Classic's lovely Caslon Rounded.

ticket 0003. Ominous looking arrow, nothing will good come out of following this one.

ticket 0004. Thick cardboard stock, like the Dutch railway tickets in 1976.

ticket 0005. Do elevators need tickets? Maybe there is one.

ticket 0006. Outgoing, explosive, detailed ornaments. At least the ticket has been validated.

ticket 0007. Subway map? Instructions for obscure wind instrument? We will never find out.

ticket 0008. Red world ticket. What does it mean? At least it is a return ticket, we can always go back.

ticket 0010. YES tickets are always nice to receive.

ticket 0009. Some tabulator / data collection tables. Requires a patient conductor.

ticket 0011. Definitely a train. I think. But it has no hole to attach it to luggage so I don’t know what they were thinking.

ticket 0012. Get your coat.

ticket 0013. Big bold S, some stars, what's not to like.

ticket 0014. Maybe a lottery ticket. Or something to do with football.

ticket 0015. Finally a real luggage ticket. Or would that be a label. World class though.

ticket 0016. Pulp paper, KINO.

ticket 0017. OMNIBUS. That S is bad, but I have to live with it, can't fix it.

ticket 0018. Another label, with a tax stamp!

ticket 0019. Uncomfortably metaphysical all of a sudden. Feels heavy handed as well as insufficient.

ticket 0020. A coffee card, with cuts. Weird echo of Wrigley's Double Mint. That's why it is good to get these things out quickly. Reflect, learn and avoid.
