The Museum for Communication (The Hague) commissioned their 1999-2000 christmas/new year's card as a design machine project. The image generates a map of a non-existing structure, with icons, roads and secondary streets. The result is complex and intriguing. The mind wonders what geography lies underneath.
The machines takes 50 random locations (stations) on the page, and calculates all the distances between all the stations. Then the stations closest together are connected with streets. The stations are surrounded by a cloud of icons.
