Rich Roat

Biking along a Belgian canal

It was amazing to see Rich work on his bikes. How he’d lovingly explain every single detail of every part. Then he’d discuss the people who had made it and which parts he was considering getting later. With the same inspiring enthusiasm he’d talk about his family or how to go about making coffee, or where to find the best charcuterie or the next fantastic things they were making at House.

A conversation with Rich was never a single thing, but glimpses of a deep, stormy network of interconnected ideas and processes, materials and people. Committed to his family, community, friends and company. A friend for over 20 years.

I’m so sorry he is gone. Thinking of Sharon and the kids and all our friends at House.
